Earl Hines (1903-83) recorded this characteristically extravagant cover of Vincent Youmans' hit song on 25 April, 1965. It is Hines' first solo piano recording of the tune.

After a period of relative obscurity, a solo recital in New York given in 1964 rekindled Hines' career, leading to many festival appearances and recording dates.

  • Jazz is not really my cup of Earl Grey... but to me this sounds as original as Art Teatum's version!

  • @pianopera yes ... and Oscar Teaperson does a pretty good version too!
