Footage of some of the speakers to address the crowd at Hastings Town Hall - the final destination of the march. To take part in such a powerful but good natured and civil protest was very special. We, the people of Hastings (and the surrounding area I should add) made both a very public show of affection for the pier and heaped enormous political pressure on Hastings council to act NOW.
Yet...
There was no bullying, no intimidation, no swearing. We were all a credit to Hastings and the Pier and let us hope that the respect we showed to the council will persuade them to do the right thing.
Time will tell...
Wow. I feel like I'm there again, watching this. That was my first historic involvement too, Tony. I saw a couple of people trying to tally the crowd, but I can't imagine they'd have got it with any accuracy. It was amazing though, being part of that community spirit! I'm feeling very optimistic after that march!

I was wondering how many people were picked up by the march in the town centre itself?
it sounds like you were expecting us all to have a riot & tear down the town hall :)
