  • Great video. Looks like it's squished some though.

  • @jameshughleigh

@jameshughleigh thanks - Yep you are right - the 16:9 Aspect Ratio of the original image got compromised in the changes towards YouTube HD. Still the atmoshpere is great as is the performance of SNG! Take a look at Sir Nigel Gresley over the Settle-Carlisle From the Footplate if you want a realistic experience - it's on Slatgrille's videos

  • Fantastic, she's really flying! Would love to have been there!

  • That was minutes from a standing start at York. We're looking forward to more coverage on the itv programmes Gresley on the Mainline in October.

  • great vid, and loco! Shame about the lack of steam coming out!

  • English whistles are so whoosy...toot toot

  • Take note all you Greenies, just how a well driven steam train goes, less smoke than a diesel,or a bigg truck.

  • @slatgrille Thanks!

  • @slatgrille Oh yea, what a beautiful engine.

  • was on the footplate today on york station.awsome.sat in both seats too.7 4 09

  • Excellent video, great to see the beast hard at work !

  • I live in the states & even I'm excited that this locomotive was restored to running condiition. 50 years ago the Sir Nigel was the fastest locomotive in the world. the record breaking run was recorded for issue on vinyl LP on the Argo label ( of which I feel fortunate to own a few copies of , thanks to ebay !) & I believe it has been re- issued on compact disc as well. strangely on vinyl it was issued in both mono & stereo.
