July 2011 four of us in two canoes did a couple of day trips through the Barmah Lakes within the Barmah National Park. There were plenty of bird sightings, one person in our group identified 48 different species of birds over the four days including kingfishers, waterbirds, parrots, cockatoos, spoonbills, kite, the list goes on and on. There has been over 200 bird species recorded in the park. Two in our group are avid photographers and they both enjoyed photographing the natural scenery. Even though it was winter the weather was not too cold at daytime, helped by sunny conditions and virtually no breeze which was ideal for canoeing.
