World of Warcraft: How to Optimize the DPS

I was trying to do more DPS while i realized that, if you're using DoT and you're a ranged class, your DPS changes if you are near the target.

So i've tryied to attack the target from a nearer distance, and there's difference!

The DPS changes because when you use DoT often the DPS go down, so if you cast spells from a near distance, the spell will hit the target sooner, and the DPS will go up before the DoT, while hitting, go down the DPS.
