Weird.
You sing the praises of this most analog of cars and you rate the Nissan higher because it "auto' rev matches?
Freak.

the 370Z costs a fortune and is not as fun.

I live in the state of New Mexico, so I don't see a lot of winter weather, but when we do get snow there aren't a lot of plows removing it, so it sucks. Driving a bit more carefully still gets me to where I'm going. If I lived somewhere with a lot of snow, I'd just get a second set of wheels, not a second car.
Oh, and I used to live in Alaska, and drove a 4Runner with Blizzaks. I think I could drive this car there, but I might want to stay home one or two days a year.

I asked how the miata might be equipped to operate in the snow, and got a flip answer. sorry for the "silly" question...and disappointed in your response as well. not everyone lives in a warm year round climate.

@jitahsful Take a look at this dork and tell me he doesn't drive some automatic transmissioned econobox every day. Of course he likes the auto revmatch, it's just soooo easy! And did you catch where he said it "saves the engine"? Hah.

@bobgsearch If you're even asking this question, you should not buy a Miata.

Also, you're comparing a Miata to a Z? Really? The Z car had always emphasized power, whereas the Miata was strictly built to handle roads in a spirited driving sense. These two cars are from two different world, and morons like you equating them because they're both swoopy-looking sports cars is obnoxious. Also, the Z's downshifting assist doesn't "save the engine". Engines don't break if they rev high, and there's no way you're cycling through gears while magically staying in the red.

What kind of neanderthal would put a navigation system in a Miata? Have you ever actually driven a classic British roadster? I can tell you haven't, since not only are the newer Miatas total failures at recapturing that same driving feel, but the ones with the added weight of the power-retractable hardtop are even worse off. This review embarrasses me as a car fan. It reeks of 'dumb'; it's bad, and you should feel bad. And who cares how high the speedometer goes? That car is NOT hitting 150mph.

I'll take a 370z... Thank you very much.

0-60 in 6.5 seconds. 167hp.

how would it be equipped to be driven in snow? any suggestions beside leaving it in the garage?

@bobgsearch
Actually with the traction control I think it would probably be a blast to drive in the snow, and a lot more stable than you might think. The Mazda FWD 6 was amazing in the snow (see my review).
