August 11, 2011: I was so excited to see these native birds! One visited yesterday, looked around, then left. This morning he was back -- with friends.

From Cornell Lab of Ornithology, All About Birds:

Although this large pigeon looks a lot like the introduced Rock Pigeon, it's a native. The Band-tailed Pigeon is found in two distinct regions in the American West, as well as throughout Central and South America.

  • nice.... I wish they made freeders and poles for australian birds. we get bigger parrots and those little dowl tube feeders just wouldn't do. can't imagine a cockatoo or galah or lorikeet being comftorable. i'm might make my own

  • very nice - looks like our bird feeder on the deck when a flock converged on us and liberated our feeder of its contents in a matter of minutes. I love these birds! Great video!

  • Wow! Looks like you might need crowd control there. Doesn't take long to find the best restaurant in town!!!
