You Make Me Shiver and Stuff was Minimum Wage Sigh's first song. While the band name was named after Nikki's first job at a local Fullerton cafe, You Make Me Shiver and Stuff was also based on experiences with this job. Written about fellow employee that Nikki worked with, the first line refers to Nikki pouring herself a coffee and not realizing the employee had arrived to work. The word "Shiver" in the title refers to the nervous shakes that we all try to hide when we're talking to someone we like. The references to HTML (marquees) in the song relate to Nikki's past time job and hobby of creating the first and original Myspace Layouts website that helped people decorate their pages. Nikki wanted everyone to relate to the song as we have all had the one crush that we just couldn't work up the courage to talk to. Instead of expressing her feelings to her fellow employee, Nikki created Minimum Wage Sigh and You Make Me Shiver and Stuff was born.
