Some members of the Brodhead Fire Department participated in a rural water drill at Turtle Fire Department. The drill was to practice moving large amounts of water via tenders from fill sites to the portable tanks at a rural fire scene. In this drill, there were a total of four fill sites; one could fill four tenders at a time, two could fill two tenders at a time, and one could fill one tender at a time. On the fire scene, there were four portable tanks feeding an engine, which was pumping the water to a platform truck. Beside the main engine, there was another engine running the jet siphons to move water between the tanks. This whole setup was duplicated beside the first one to flow even more water. At one point, Brodhead Truck 2 was flowing 2000 gallons per minute and Fontana Tower 3755 was flowing about 1250 gallons simultaneously. There were 29 trucks at the practice, including 15 tenders. The department traveling the furthest to participate was Hillsboro Fire Department, with a travel time of about two and half hours.
