Just like the picture directions, this video is no help. Would love a set of directions that I can read. Bought this and it is randomly going off and various spot in the wall. I repeat the exact same movement and it goes off and other various spots. Unless the studs are moving within the wall, I am guessing that this is a piece of shit and returning it to get another brand. Possibly one that isn't made in China!

My studs move within my walls too. One minute they are here, the next minute they are 4 inches to the right, then they move another 4 to 6 inches to the right, then 1 foot to the left. My personal favorite is when it tells me that my entire fucking wall is a stud... well thats just great! That means I can drill anywhere I damn well please an Im certain to hit a stud.

Totally agree with other comments - wished that I had read these comments before I purchased. I am going back to the "knock on wall" test it is more accurate than this rubbish that we paid good money for!!!

I thought a product with the "Stanley" name would be O.K. I was wrong.

What a garbage product. The A/C alarm rang continuously, and the stud detection was not reliable.

I've taken 2 Stanley stud finders back to the hardware store today. Absolute pieces of rubbish. Had A Stanley years ago that worked sort of OK, new ones are not worth considering. Shame on this company for selling trash.

The packages I saw at the store didn't even say whether it requires a battery. I had to download the user manual to my phone to find out. (it does—9 volts, not included)

The second page of the user manual includes written instructions. You tube apparently doesn't want me to post a url, but you can find a downloadable user manual on the website. Do better, Stanley!
