Part 1 (of 4) of my visit to the Waterloo battlefield just south of Brussels, Belgium.
The first part looks at the main memorial on the site, the Butte du Lion (the Lion's Mound) built to commemorate the where William II of the Netherlands (the Prince of Orange).was shot by a musket ball during the battle (if he had died there how bog would it have been?).
The view of the general battlefield from the Butte is seen along with a brief look at the tourist attractions in the village.
ive been there. the mound was used as a machine gun nest and helicopter base during the battle. wellington climbed those stairs during the battle. he shot several french from up there. the wax museum was destroyed by canon fire at the time. there are no massage parlours in the area. the farms served food during the battle - takeaway or sit in. the cars mucked up the french cavalry charge
