What really draws me into fictional machines is when they're based in reality. To me it looks like this anime creators did research on successful fighter aircraft and copied/evolved them.

Actually, google J7W1 Shinden.. it's a real plane, Sanka B is just "evolution" of it. And Skyly J2 (teachers plane) has parts from multiple well known fighterplanes, such as ME 109, FW190D, P-38 etc etc..

@Leonidae The plane looks more like a Westland Wyvern more than anything, to be honest with you although that plane only saw action as a dive bomber.

@ManEatingBadger I also see Messerschmitt in the coolers, Ju-87 in the wings, Hawker Hurricane IIB/Typhoon/Tempest in the wing cannons, 190D in the nose ( minus contra rotating props).. list goes on and on

@RapeCaek I know P-55 Ascender.. I have two versions of it in CFS3 and even without that I can tell to you that Sanka B is nowhere near the shape of P-55. J7W1 Shinden, however, is easy to recognize as the starting point of Sanka B.
