@rockandrollmcdonalds Ive been playing all the ones i have and they are awesome
At War with the Mystics
Yoshimi Battle the Pink Robots
The Soft Bulletin
Clouds Taste Metallic
but my fave is their newest Embryonic. its much more freeform or something. different sounds different influnces. more serious/intense.
they have so much music, all their releases in the 80's, B sides, Oh My Gawd!!! Transmissions, Zaireeka, Collaborations, White Dwarfs, Neon Indian, its unreal!

MUCH BETTER live. most people say their favorite musicians sound better live but usually its not true. I gotta say the lips weren't some of my favorite musicians until I heard them live. I can't go back to the studio recordings.

This album is THE one

Wow. I miss these days of the Lips. They were nearly untouchable in the 90's, IMO. Yoshimi and Mystics were mediocre efforts but I was really pleased with Embryonic.

@astamatikos Naw, they never ripped off anyone. The Cat Stevens song they hadn't even realized sounded like Fight Test, but that's the only time something like that ever happened.

If it wasn't for Zaireeka, this is still my favorite Lips album. I got 13 stitches in my head seeing them with the Butthole Surfers at the Roseland Ballroom in '88. Still one of the most surreal events I have ever witnessed. Just to kick it up a notch. The Stone Temple Pilots opened up, before they were anything, dress up as KISS.

Agree. I absolutely love 'At War with the Mystics,' but Soft Bulletin is a flawless album.
