Ziad Jundi was born in Syria and graduated from the University of Damascus with a degree in Mathematics and physics. He did his graduate work In England and got his Ph. D. in atomic physics. In the Middle East, he became a professor of physics at various universities in Jordan, Syria, and Saudi Arabia.
Jundis artistic life went parallel to his professional one. In his impressionistic style, he paints the air engulfing the objects rather than the objects themselves. For him, it is the air that carries colour.
His numerous one-man shows took place in Riyadh, Dhahran, Damascus, Amman, Los Angeles, and Santa Fe. His art work hangs in Jordanian and Saudi palaces. It was also collected by Europeans and Americans.
In 1988 he immigrated to Canada with his wife and two children and has been living in Richmond BC since then.
