Mmkies. After 369 days, It's done. Assembled from 100+ pieces of balsa wood, the 2 meter wingspan Electric Sailplane is complete. Basically, what it does is fly to 50-100 feet. I then turn the motor off and coast, catch thermals and do w/e floats my boat. The video shows the first flight, with no motor. The 15 second clip is of it coasting from a hand launch and flying halfway across 4 soccer fields.

Epic.

  • Thanks! I was very lazy on my build, that's why it took a year! Good luck with yours, and thanks for the tip. I learned that the hard way. I hadn't programmed the motor brake, and I stalled at 200 feet. Needless to say, I nose dived straight into the ground. Not as bad as you would think though! Thank you tough build!

  • Well I went and commented on your reply to the other thread, then I found this :). Very nice, built quite well too :). Your faster than me building, my electra took around 400days, but I modified it to a t-tail so that added some time . (my lousy excuse for building slow :))

  • thanks
