@blackmaestro I listen to a lot of hip hop, rock and soul, and I do not actually like Kanye West. But his talent (which you state is pressing two buttons on a "beat machine" is far beyond that, producers like him sit weeks in the studio trying to improve just one song. So if you're a musician I think you should already know that. I see this is 2 years ago but still I don't feel West deserved that.

A SONGTRESS and STYLIST of song "EXTRAORDINAIR" --- Ms. FANCY will ALWAYS rank up there with THE VERY BEST--- (ELLA, DINAH AND BILLY) ---- HER airy, clear, concise melodic fluidity is incomparable. ONE of KIND. A GENUINE and TRUE ARTIST of her craft. PURE and NATURAL--- a SOUL that's been blessed with the gift TO SING with THE ANGELS and then come to earth and touch the HEARTS of ALL. May the MOST HIGH continue keep you in his "CHOURUS of the HEAVENS"--- ALL PRAISES!!!!

@blackmaestro eh come back and run your mouth when you can flip a sample like Dilla. Ignorance and snobbery at its peak...

Saw Ms. Wilson in NYC last week and it was indeed awesome, she's still got the chops. However, she did announce that after she finished her next show in Ohio this fall would be her last that she was retiring. I came from Georgia to see her and it was the best money spent. It was a wonderful show, I am so glad that I went.

There are nowadays some great Hip Hop groups that link jazz to rhymes. You may check out the sound providers or Hocus Pocus!!

While groups like the sound providers or Hocus Pocus and some others do take some parts from Jazz songs, all they do is loop a very small part of the song and then they "rap" over it which I think most people here are turned off by (including myself).
