I was moved to write this song after reading a press release that John Henry was euthanized in October 2007. This horse, John Henry, was to horse racing, what Babe Ruth was to base ball. As a horseman and horse owner myself, the words came through the tears of the multitude who loved John. It is to those wonderful people that I dedicate this song. It is to those people who keep his memory alive.
Featuring Bob Winkler on guitar & vocals, Sharon Guzman on lead vocals, Mike Jenkins on dobro, Louree Carter on fiddle and vocals, Rick Headley on guitar and vocals, and Lou Ann Preston on bass and vocals.
Recorded at the Glendale Folk & Heritage Festival, Sahuaro Ranch Park, Glendale, Arizona, USA.
-- Robert Winkler
