Thanks mate. Yeah i thought the 300's were quicker, thats why i was a bit stunned when the 450 hung around for as long as it did. But the weight of the two riders explains it.
Keep up the good posts mate. You've got some good footage.

The wr stuck with it until it valve bounced duh....... wr's are geared too short ktm 450 exc '10 slightly pulls on a 300 exc '10 until 160 with even wieght riders plus the speedos wrong anyway

These guys started dragging well past idle. If you were to put both of these bikes on a slippery hill climb where you need to hang around idle to avoid wheel spin. The KTM 300 will purr up the hill right at idle, where there 450 will stall if it goes down too low. My mate (yamaha 450) and I (KTM 300) came to one such hill. We could both get my bike up, but neither of us could get his up. The 300 is a good 10 kg's lighter too.

From what i can tell, when you come up beside him and pass, he then winds the throttle on and gets the jump on you slightly as your 2T starts to wind up. But once your in the top end, you catch him then pull away from him. Correct? Did he say at the end 'i had you then you starting winding up'?
So in conclusion, straight line race, the 300 might give a little intially but once in powerband the 300 pulls away?
I love the 300's. I have an 06 KTM.

Hi Seth,
The start was pretty even, but basically he weighs 70kgs and I weigh 110kgs! I was in band from the start, so in the end it was a weight race and mine had the long legs up top. When we swap bikes there's no competition - the KTM is a lot quicker!
