This is the second round of severe thunderstorms that hit the Chicago area on Monday, August 4, 2008. The first round, which occurred 3 hours earlier around 8pm, triggered a tornado siren in the city of Chicago and produced 5 confirmed tornadoes in the Chicagoland & NW Indiana region.

The following are preliminary reports that I grabbed during the time of the storm. To get the latest reports (which include confirmation of tornadoes after NWS went out to survey storm damage), go to:

  • as you said " watch the sears tower getting hit by the lightening," I saw; it was a pretty bad strike. Were there any casualties inside the building because of that lightening?

  • I think a few tourists at the Sears Tower Skydeck crapped their pants.

  • 1. where did u film this from?

    2. were u outside?

  • This was filmed from inside my house.

  • t-storms scare me so much. I live near chicago and we lost power like 5 storms in a row. last time lightning hit the transformer outside our house and the powerlines caught on fire and fell right next to a jeep parked right in front of our house. luckily it didnt blow up. but it took like 20minutes for them to turn the power off for the power lines

  • i used to live in chicago and i still remember the storm a tree fell over at muh uncle's house lucky it didn't hit da house
