During the opening laps of the USRA Modifieds A-Main, area lightning stikes from a major storm a few miles away from the track, knocks out the lights at the speedway, causing everyone to come to a complete stop in the dark. Amazingly, all the drivers were able to stop without incident. Then the rains came, and the race was called.
