One of these days, I'm going to sit down and make a good video. Not today though.

I'm playing this guitar solo to a backing track I downloaded from GuitarBackingTracks.com.

The Guitar is a 1977 Wine Red Gibson Les Paul Custom with a Kahler Whammy Bar.

I added the Whammy bar in 1982 or 83. It's a Gibson whammy, (made for Gibson by Kahler) with the Gibson name plated on the whammy bridge.

I'm recording this with Mixcraft 4 multi-track recording software.

  • is there major difference in sound or sustain compared with stoptail les pauls...

  • @yannee69 I noticed very little difference in sustain or sound quality between the old bridge and the kahler whammy bridge. I've never missed the old bridge. I've never regretted changing it. I love to whammy.

  • Does the kahler stay in tune well?

  • @coltong400 It does stay in tune pretty well. It's not perfect though. Sometimes it seems to come up a little flat. And since I've never owned a Floyd Rose before, I can't say which is better. The Kahler or the Floyd Rose. But I've seen some other videos where they say the Floyd Rose is better.

  • Would you sell that LP? I love it!! Really

  • @danirock Nope. Mine till death. Or until somebody steals it. I bought it brand new 33 years ago when I was 17 and a junior in high school. When America was...well,...a better America. 1 owner. Every scratch on her is mine. My scratch. Many, many band jobs, parties, and a lifetime of great times and memories with this guitar. I won't part with it ever. I love it too danirock!

  • I love the way you suddenly stopped playing (right as I was crying "bullshit!") and let the backing track just continue on. That was sweet. Your tone and playing are so good I thought all you were doing was pick-synching (hey, I just invented a word) to a recorded track. Kudos brother. You're one of the best on YouTube.

  • @BigORat That's how I feel about my les paul! I got it when I was 14 from a family member and I've been through so many bands, live shows, family gatherings, and hard times with it I'll never part with it.

  • @danirock :: I have one in Cherry Sunburst if interested? 79 w Kahler

  • @BigORat Good. And does it keep the tuning after rough string bending?
