Richard Dawkins reads from his book 'Unweaving the Rainbow'
"We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here."

@moroney1 Where did I say Science is another religion, once again let me repeat that religion and spirituality are two different things. I think you need to understand that first before moving forward...bit like learning to crawl before you can walk. BTW we don't ever die because we are all energy and energy can never be destroyed only changed so even the title of this video is incorrect as is Dawkins.

@Thyalwaysseek You just undermined your own argument. You said science is just another religion, then said ''religion is but the indoctrination of the masses through fear''
I'm sorry but having reasonable certainty based on evidence, measurements, proofs, equations, observations and calculations is not comparable to a Christian having faith in original sin, or a Muslim having faith in Mohammed flying on a horse.
They are seperate, and I think you already know that

@moroney1 Actually science is based on the faith that one has the correct theory based on the current understanding of the laws of the Universe we exist in...I mean it was scientifically verified that the planets and Sun moved around the Earth at one time. So yes faith has something to do with science. Religion is but the indoctrination of the masses through fear, but spirituality and science have much more common than many care to admit.

@JohananRaatz Reasonable certainty in the scientific world based on evidence or logic is polls apart from a religion asserting ultimate certainty based on faith i.e. faith.
Your comment on approaching religion as somewhat "dialectically" or "experimentally" is, without coming across as nasty, rhetorical nonsense.

Nice video, but the potential people that could have been, actually do exist as well -just in other branches of the quantum multiverse. ;-)

@moroney1 Well you can have reasonable certainity in science ("for all practical purposes certainity"). And depending on how you approach religion, you can take it somewhat "dialectically" or "experimentally."
