Stereo: PLEASE LISTEN IN STEREO! This is a stereo mix if there ever was one.

This is a special request from one of my You Tube friends. Dori in Canada, better known as santamara on You Tube asked me if I would do this song.

This is the only instrumental recorded by John Denver to the best of my knowledge.

Since I don't really read music, I had to learn the song by ear. First I wrote a chart and laid down the backing track. I played three acoustic rhythm parts, a percussion part and a bass part. Next, I spent a few days listening to the original and learning the guitar melody part by ear. I improvised the solo section in the middle of the tune.

I hope everyone likes it. And a special thanks to Dori for introducing me to this beautiful piece of music.

  • I watched this about 10 times in the last 24 hours dude - you rock!

  • Beautiful cover of this lovely tune by the late John Denver and Mike Taylor. Sad to say, Mike Taylor has recently passed away, September 5, 2010. However, this song, among many others, will keep the memory of him and his guitar skills, alive and well for a very long time. He would be very pleased with your performance of this song! Great job, and thank you so much for posting!

Thankx, Mark. I love and play this piece myself. You've helped unlock a hurdle or two, as I polish my own arrangement. I also enjoyed hear you take the freedom to improvise on the melody, midway through. I believe it's important to preserve this number in a "note for note" context, but from a soloing perspective.., it's a compelling inspiration. With digression, soloing on this theme is as valid as the piece itself. Your recording efforts were also appreciated.

  • great! Wish I had your CD! ;)

  • Great job!
