Zevon thought of himself as a poet first, a musician second. This is one of those songs that falls in-between - here, he's a story-teller. My favourite part of the song is the guitar cheat, right in the middle on the line "He traded it in (cheat) for a night in Las Vegas". More evident on the album version. I was hooked by the lyrics from the first time I heard it, though. Z is one of those guys you just cannot believe is gone. . .

This is an another awesome song from "Life Will Kill You". About Elvis Presley and his reclusiveness that probably led to his death. A prophesy. What a story teller Zevon was.
