JJames Commentary:

This is a Tool-assisted Speedrun of a Super Mario World ROM hack, called Super Mario World Extra. (Original title eh?)

There are a few things to note, firstly being that this is pretty much a level only hack with the exception of a couple tweaks here and there on the overworld and level names. Otherwise, the only real change is the levels. Secondly, I am no real hardcore TASer. I don't do things to frame perfection, nor do I use hidden values and such to do crazy tricks like the 16 hop. I do this with 0.3x speed and rewind states alone. I also make quite a few mistakes that I never bother going back and fixing so it's no true TAS. But still, I tried hard to complete a lot of levels as fast as I could so that accounts for something.

With that out of the way, let's get onto the level comments. This is the normal half of world 2, Donut Plains. This is the proper path, which actually ends up being shorter up to the level where both paths meet.

Great Grasslands 2 (Normal) - 0:32
Much better flying this time around, though I accidentally land on the top most barrier. Note how the key I chuck breaks open a block.

Grey Caves 1 (Secret) - 0:32
I'm a bit careful around the swoopers. I end up having to wait on the rising block despite my best efforts, which as you'll see later, could've been avoided. For some odd reason, why I approach the Puntin' Chuck, I can't cape swipe him for a while, even though I hammered away at the Y button. Instead of boring you with the puzzle, I just use another, more accessible shell.

Green Switch Palace - 0:12
I thought it would be more interesting if I let the shell give me the extra life.

Grey Caves 1 (Normal) - 0:24
I did much better flying this time around, and after doing so, I realized I could've entered the pipe much faster in this fashion. I didn't this time since the level is no longer auto scrolling; I can fly straight through the rest of the level without losing speed unlike the pipe.

House of Boo 1 (Secret) - 0:18
Not much to say. Avoiding the fading in Boos is a lot harder then it looks.

House of Boo 1 (Normal) - 0:20
I just fly up to the door instead of doing the puzzle.

Lift Express 1 - 0:30
I like what I did to the first blue koopa. I have to go through the level a bit before I find room to fly. Instead of flying over top the whole level, I thought it'd be funner and more entertaining to spinfly through it. That bit me back at the On/Off segment.

Bullet Bill Air 2 - 1:28
It's amazing how much distance you can cover while ducking as long as you have a ceiling above you. I'm not sure if this warp really saved much time though.

Morton's Castle - 1:23
I was way too worried about that koopa shell to just fly right on through the gauntlet. In the vertical segment, I end up waiting a lot but that's something most TASers would be forced to do, I did however, make a decent showing after the shifting shafts part.
