Sorry, but I have to dispute some of your choices. You left out "The
Green Berets" and "Hellfighters". Two of my faves. Most of the othanksthers were right on..I did not care for a couple of your picks, but everybody has their opinion.
Well the Longest Day was filled with Stars just like How The West Was Won bith with John Wayne who did not play a leading role. I totally loved the Searchers and Big Jake & The Man Who Shot Liverty Valance. Big Jake is funny in that almost everyone thought he was dead.
well.Eldorado and Rio Bravo are the same movie..Mitchem was better than Martin.. Scratch Longest Day.....fighting Kentuckian wasnt bad....Donavans reef or North to Alaska should be added he wasnt bad in those comedies.
What about "The Island in the Sky" and "The High and the Mighty"?,those two,in my book, were such classics that have been lost for so many years, but finally brought back to life on DVD;The High and the Mighty is regarded as one of my favorite Duke movies thanks to the powerful, remarkable and Oscar winning score by Dimitri Tiomkin; Also my other favorite Duke movie is "North to Alaska",that movie deserves some credit.
John Wayne had a lesser known film Directed By Raoul Walsh I would put on this list - the only movie Wayne and Roy Rodgers appeared together in - "Dark Command" This movie is based upon a true story with some Hollywood Liberties taken and it is the next Movie Wayne & Claire Trevor did after "Stagecoach"
Hell he only had a couple of minutes of on screen time in the Longest Day how could you possibly include that. It wasnt a John Wayne film it was a cameo appearance. And I agree where is Donovans Reef, Big Jake, Flying Tigers, Wings of Eagles, Flying Leathernecks....it is almost impossible to make a top 20 films of all time by the Duke.

What about "The Conqueror" and "The Green Berets"? I think a list of Wayne's worst movies would be a lot longer.
