Unless you write out the proof for how the sides of the parallelogram are equal you can't use that data. It's a well known property of a parallelogram, but so is how the diagonals bisect so you can't use it as reasoning. It's much easier and better to use ∠AEB = ∠CED (vert. opp. ∠'s).
