The World Premiere of Jason Wilber's most recent SATB unaccompanied choral piece, Sunset. Directed by Brett Maley, the premiere took place on March 30th, 2010, at the Composition IV Premieres in Hockett Recital Hall at Ithaca College.

Soprano - Mel Daneke, Taylor Eike, Daria Harper, Samantha Lynn
Alto - Jennifer Steiger, Laurel Stinson, Ashleigh Ciambriello, Erin Shults
Tenor - David Grossman, Chris Miranda, Peter Blanford
Bass - Johnny Rabe, Kevin Guest, Austin Kiley

The original poem, Sunset, was written by violinist Isaac Shiman '13. The following is an excerpt from the program notes:

"The words that Isaac chose, each and every one, procured a particular emotional response in me, in such a way that each phrase is truly only a musical imitation of what the poem already says. As I began to rehearse the piece and heard what I had written, I was awed and humbled by how well the poem and the music fit together. I do no say this in order to compliment my own piece. I only mention this because of the way in which it demonstrates the true unity between poet and composer. The soul speaks in many ways; for Isaac, it is through poetry: for myself, through music. When these two manifestations of our existence are combined, the result is purely a piece of the essence of humanity. "
