  • What supplements do you take? Vitamin D3? I also work the night shift.

  • @elhijodeloscalzones I take ZMA, its an anabolic sports supplement that promotes recovery and deep sleep (its just a blend of minerals, nothing magical) and I also take Theanine with Melatonin. Before I go to bed, I also have a bowl of Matcha, which is a form of green tea, it has a huge amount of amino acids and other goodies in it which promote well being. If you are caffeine sensitive, you might not want to do this, but its not that much in a small bowl.

  • Hi there. When I worked at a group home for about 9 months I would occasionally work the night shift one day a week from 11pm-7am. It was pretty horrible, I got stomach aches during my shift and it took me several day's to recover. I am sure these symptoms would have eventually gone away if I had'nt gone back in forth. I did'nt like how this made me feel so I stopped but if it is what you have to do it's what you have to do. Someday soon you can come back to the living :-).

  • Yes someday I will rise from the land of the living dead (bad joke I know!). At least I know how to do it. One thing which does help me imensely is the fact that I do meditate every day now. 30 to 45 minutes with a simple focused breath meditation helps imensely. Nice boost of natural energy from being realy rested and focused.

  • Yea I would like to get back into some sort of meditation practice to but havent put much effort into it. I may try just the breathing thing, sounds harmless enough.

  • It feels really good and no side effect! One problem I had at the begining (and from time to time) is that I sometimes fall asleep while doing it. Usually because I did not get enought sleep or I was simply to tired. I like to meditate right after I work out. I am awake, alert and in a good mood to start with.

  • aside from sleep, you need to take care of your eating time. even during the weekends. otherwise ur body will get all messed up. and it's easier to put on weight if you work night shifts. you need to really take care of when and what you eat.

  • the vampire lifestyle? nice..LOL! i worked night shift for eight years now. 9pm to 5am. the weekdays is no problem. it's the weekends that's gonna kill you. my friends call me Batman.

  • @smileyg333 it's physically possible to do. we all have voice mail today. make them wait ! like the good old days waaay back several minutes ago ( ha ha) Our sleep is beyond important for all of us ... it's 4pm...i've been up 30 mins...from a phone-free/darkened,noise free, didn't wake up once chamber ! ahhhhhhh.... take care

  • problem is... people WONT set their bedroom up ! you need nearly total darkness...white noise....the mind set...the PHONE OFF !! love the morons who say "the phone keeps waking me up" !!!! they dont want to sleep.it's easy to do...just takes mind set. less brass around..no traffic...kinda your own boss... hours before you start work...NO rush whatsoever !

  • Iam a night support worker and ive been doing it for maybe nearly a year now, its only now its taking toll on me..i just feel dredful most days. i find now until i make the choice to leave the job and go bk on days which i can do, is to eat healthly and take some kind of vitamins which hopefully work. its deffo a killa and it shows on your body & skin.

  • I work the graveyard shift at walmart and last night black friday started at midnight. It was fucking rediculously packed with people.:(
