I Need To See You Chapter Nine Part One

So the wicked gunshot rang through Ashley's ears all the way to the hospital...

"Ashley?" "Yes?" I got up, I was anxious to hear the news. "I'm sorry, but Steve hasn't made it." "Okay. Thank you, Doctor, and how is Brandon?" "He's fine now, you may see him if you like" "Thank you" I walked into the room the doctor had pointed towards. "Brandon?" As soon as I saw him I started crying. He looked so helpless lying there in the bed with needles and tubes every which way around him. "Oh Brandon!" I went over next to him and kneeled on the floor. "Don't cry, baby," he managed to say, "Come here" I started to slowly and gently move towards him "Come on, you won't hurt me" I managed to get my way around all of the medical equipment and I was in Brandon's arms. I hear him moan in pain a little, but I know he didn't want me to hear him. So I pretended I didn't. "How...how are you f...feeling?" "My leg still hurts, a lot. And my head hurts, luckily I didn't get a concussion" "Thank goodness!" In case you're wondering what happened, here's how it all went down. Brandon hit Steve in the leg, he fell and dropped the gun. We all tried to get it but it was Brandon who got it first. Steve picked up the bat as Brandon held the gun Steves chest. Steve tried to hit Brandon in the head so her couldn't fire but just as he was swinging, Brandon pulled the trigger. Steve hadn't made it and I was glad. Not the fact that he died so young and all, but just that he was out of my life now. He can't touch me or hurt me anymore. "Ashley?" "Oh, sorry, I just sort of zoned out" "Hows Steve?" "He can't touch me now, Brandon, he died" "That's good. That bastard deserved it." I was thinking bout Steve and where he is now. "Are you okay, Ashley?" "What? Yeah, why do you ask?" "Cause you're all pale and it looks like-" I fainted. I don't know why, I just did. I woke up with nurses around me. "Are you okay, Miss? Did you hit your head? Do you want some water?" The questions were zooming at me like lightning strikes. My head started spinning and I had to grab it to make it stop. "I'm just sort of...dizzy...that's all" I tried to stand but fell backwards and two of the nurses caught me. "Maybe you should lie down for a bit." "O...okay, but only if I'll be with Brandon." They led me to the bed next to Brandon's. They left and Brandon and I were alone. "B...Brandon?" "Yeah, babe? Are you okay now?" "Yeah, um, back at my house, you know I didn't mean any of those things I said about not being your girl, r...right?" "Yeah, but it still hurt to hear them come out of your mouth" I tried to get up but I was still dizzy so I steadied myself on the bed before I started to make my way over to Brandon. I laid down next to him and put my head on his chest so I could feel the rhythm of his heartbeat. "I love you, Brandon" "I love you too, Ashley" He seemed to slur his words and I thought it was just because he was tired. But then his heartbeat got really fast and then stopped. I looked up. "Brandon? Oh my gosh! Nurse!! Come quick!" I didn't really know what was going on, but I knew something was wrong. He was sweating, and shaking, and his eyes were rolled up backwards...
