In Haryana, people of Dalit communities, including the correspondent of this video are forbidden to enter temples. In Barot village of Ludwa, Haryana, Dalits like Amit are not allowed to enter the village temples. The temples allow only the villagers who belong to upper castes to worship. Amit talks to several other youths like himself in his community who share their the pain and indignity that they face every day. The Constituion of India ensures equal rights to all citizens. These include the right to 'opt, embrace and practice any religion". However, in Barot village of Ludwa the Dalits have always been denied this right. They have been treated as 'dirty' and asked by both the upper caste and the temple priest to keep away from the temple. Amit says that though the older generation has accepted this denial of rights as a fate, youths in his community are angry and bitter to be treated as untouchables and being barred from having simple joys such as worshipping in a temple. Though such discrimination violates the basic human rights and causes a lot of indignity to Dalits, no effort has been made to end this till now. In fact the govt only acts when the prejudice sparks violence and a Dalit family is physically attacked by the upper caste. Amit who has been reporting on this discrimination since he joined IndiaUnheard, did this video to share with the viewers the humiliation that he experiences every day as a Dalit youth and wants them to condemn this, so that people like him can live with dignity.

@captainnasir Capt. Sir, I think, you have not been to the developing India and you have just seen this part of India. New generation is getting educated and these things doesn't matter for them.Yes, I agree that New generation of rural India is still having this narrow metality and you can find it in urban India as well but there are many more upper caste people who dont care of this caste.I belongs to this caste and I am blessed with good education where I see good & bad both kind of people.

Brothers please go to another temple. Even if you go in to this worthless place, the "pandit" in charge does not know anything about our Vedic scriptures and so the temple rituals have not been maintained properly anyway. If you go to an Iskcon temple you can see our Vedic religion its full glory brothers. Krishna wants to see you more than even you want to see him! Ignore the morons in your village!

This is really stupid, this discrimination is idiotic. I am a Hindu and this discrimination holds no water in the revealed scriptures of Hinduism. It makes no sense to bar people from worship in a temple simply because of thier birth.

I wish I could bring them all here to the US and have them go to every single temple there is. This makes me sad.
My husband who is also a Hindu doesn't even attend the Temple, and here are people who want to visit their beloved Temples yet they're not allowed... SMH.
