@KRxN11 Johnny credited the riff to pianist Count Otis Matthews, long before Bo appeared on the scene.

Ironic that Etta James and The Godfather of R&B Johnny Otis pass on the same day. R.I.P.

Le Roi Du Rhytmh'N'Blues... Merci Johnny Otis Show

Johnny Otis was a credit to the human race. A black man in a white skin if there ever was one.

@didleybopp very true...in fact people who were racist were afraid of jazz and criticized it because it meant that America was integrating. Racist groups had only one thing to do and that was criticize jazz for "leading people down the wrong path in life"....RIP Johnny Otis
You know, jazz bands were one of the main forces that finished off racial segregation in America. It's silly to talk of "black music" and "white music". Are you saying there aren't any great African-American opera singers? Only some of the best in the world! Likewise there are many non-black geniuses of Jazz. It saddens me seeing reverse racism on this subject. I was lucky enough to see the live Johnny Otis show and his enormous mixed race band in SF as a teen in a mixed race crowd. Fantastic!
