A section of the 18th century Grantham Canal, just below lovely Belvoir Castle, has just been re-opened, having been officially closed in 1929. A Festival was held to celebrate, and I took a canal boat ride.

  • There used to be organised canoe races along the eastern part of the canal many years ago. Boats had to be hauled out and carried across a filled-in section up to Harlaxton Drift. This is a memory from childhood so it might not be over accurate. It would be good to have canoe races again.

  • that was bob

  • Looks like you had a great time Janet!
