Indeed Stettin is German city, the same as Lwów and Wilno are Polish cities. All explusions of Germans and Poles from their homes was job of Stalin and olso Roosevelt who agreed for that !

The history of Szczecin began in the 8th century, when West Slavs settled Pomerania and erected a stronghold on the site of the modern castle. The West Slavs are Slavic peoples speaking West Slavic languages. Czechs, Kashubians, Poles, Slovaks, and Sorbs are the ethnic groups that originated from the original Western Slavic tribes.

Before the war Stettin used to be Berlin's principal seaport.

The reason the city was given to Poland (even if it lies west of the Oder) was because Stalin wanted Königsberg as a warm-water port for the Soviet Baltic Fleet, and recommended that the Poles should get Stettin instead.

And that was how history came to be.
