I wonder how many images of the flight you have hanging on the walls at home now? This is cool every time I watch one of these flights.

so thats what hit me in the head

Approximately how far from the original launch site did the cooler land?

Thats cool

I realized how much it would suck if the cooler landed in the middle of a highway.

Did you need to get FAA clearance to launch the balloon? I remember to send up rockets we had to notify them, but I don't know the procedures or anything for balloons.
Anywho, awesome, and well done.

@zippyman818 The balloon was rated for 90k feet. Since we under-inflated due to helium shortage, it should have gone higher before popping. It flew for about 4 hours total time (GPS
We would have had enough helium with 80 cubic feet (I think), but we used a lot for party balloons in a pre-flight test.

It was 80 cubic feet.
Great video. We are launching this week. Can I ask what settings you used for the camera? We loaded the CHDK, but don't know what to set it at.

@tosajd56 We set the interval to 11 seconds between photos. That seemed a good balance between time of flight, storage on the SD card, image resolution, and battery life. We ended up with about 2000 photos but many were dark after sunset.
Good luck with your launch!
