"I see. You ARE strong," D'Raven murmured as he wiped blood from his lip.

"You could've just asked if you wanted to know that," Protoman responded, standing defensively in front of Ayu. He had been startled when the girl had jumped back into the pillar for the taiyaki, but he had rebounded well. She had stayed off to the side and watched like it was a television program, nibbling on her treats.

"Now," the automaton continued, "Will you let us go? You're beaten."

"Not just yet," D'Raven responded. "I'm curious about her as well."

"Her..." Protoman started, then threw an arm out defensively. "Oh no, you leave Ayu out of this."

"But she too has beaten Thin Nen, I'm curious as to her potential," the mage explained.

"She did what? You're crazy. She's just a little girl. If he did fight her, he probably just went easy on her."

"Perhaps," D'Raven responded with a shrug. "However, I want to see for myself."

"Umm..." Ayu murmured tugging on Protoman's scarf. "He wants to play with me now?"

Protoman was silent, locked in a staring contest with the mage.

"... Fine," he said finally, turning and kneeling next to Ayu. "Yes, Ayu, he wants to play. You give it your best, okay?"

"I'll make you proud!" she responded, "then I can join your team!"

"..."

Protoman stood, walking over to the mage. As he passed by him, he leaned in. His tone was flat and unmistakable.

"She thinks this is just a game. You will be gentle with her. Or else you won't be 'playing' with anyone ever again."

He glowered at D'Raven a moment longer, then stepped away. The mage didn't need to turn around to know that the automaton had his buster still out, ready to alleviate his shoulders from the weight of his head. He adjusted his hat.

"Very well, little girl. Let's play."

------

Here's the duckling as promised.

D'Raven IS a lot like Perfect Cell in some respects. He reacts the same to the Taiyaki Ride similarly with his fire pillars. And with no real ranged attacks, I am forced to close with Ayu or wait for him to come to me and counterattack.

Also, I'm not sure if it's just me, but it's notoriously hard to get the Just Defend off on this guy's hypers. Even if I get the first couple hits Just Defended, I still take chip damage from the rest of it. However, I still managed to get some good blocks on his melee attacks.

Speaking of, I found what does that massive chunk of damage. It's his DAGGER. He stabs you for a ridiculous amount of damage. Fortunately, the range on it is almost non-existant, he has to be right next to you to hit you with it... but it freaking HURTS. It does about 320 damage by itself, from what I'm seeing.

On the plus side, besides the fire pillars, most of his ground-based fire attacks can be easily avoided with a well-timed Taiyaki Ride. I found that out in the second round and used it to evade all damage during the third.

Perhaps I should see if she's strong enough to take on ihoo's Iori as well. She's managed to survive both Thin Nen and D'Raven. We'll see.
