  • The US kitchen nightmare is no comparison to the uk original version. I'm amazed at how fox turned an intelligent enjoyable show into overdramatized crap.

  • @acehole7 Completely agree. The key element FOX took out was Ramsay's narrative, which really was a shame because it was informative and thoughtful. Regrettably, FOX's version chose to have the participants comment on each phase of the restaurant makeover. I found it rather irritating because it took the substance out of the programme.

  • @skooshi what are you talking about. bourdain likes ramsay

  • Totally agree with what he's saying, I loved the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares but was horribly disappointed with the US version. It's too scripted with the obligatory makeover added in, and with too much focus on drama and swearing, and not enough on how to run a restaurant and the cooking. Same thing with Hell's Kitchen. Shame he didn't mention the F-Word, which I also enjoyed a lot.

  • *Bourdain orders a Cinnabon and receives spit*

    "I deserved that."

  • rofl bourdain is hilarious. yeah i have to admit some of his language is a little off-color and he is arrogant...but c'mon considering what bourdain has done in his career, he can say whatever he wants. he talks the talk but he can walk the walk too

  • I just finished the UK kitchen nightmares and thought it was absolutely amazing. Really I think the biggest failure of US television is pandering to corporate sponsors. Even with one camera and unedited language it managed to beat most big budget reality TV.

  • The UK Kitchen Nightmares, Boiling Point and The F Word seems way more real than Hells Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares US. For this sort of thing, UK tv is just better.

  • Interesting.

I've seen both and I do like both even though they are extremely different. American television demands that viewers always have a constant sense of over dramatic "reality". It's unfortunate because all of the Television is like that, even the shows that are meant to help people. The Narrative in UK Kitchen Nightmares I think is a great reflective element that really pulls the show through and makes it good.
