This robot was built with mostly borrowed equipment, including:
- a large external vacuum pump
- two external power supplies
- a valve system, and some polyurethane hose
- three servos
- two Sharp distance sensors
- two hard plastic suction cups
- a large screw arm, a generic motor to turn it, and an H-bridge
- a PIC16 microcontroller

The vacuum pump was tested with suction against a glass surface to hold a maximum of around 25 lbs before releasing; however, the device has a tendency to slide down the whiteboard. The large metallic arm is used to press the top suction cup against the wall while applying suction.

The distance sensor on top of the screw is used to detect obstructions, like the ceiling; the distance sensor on the bottom, and the flap of cardboard, are used to track the position of the top cup.
