When I was a boy in the 40s I lived next door to Frederic Norton's housekeeper in Ruislip, so got to know the great tunes from Chu Chin Chow including this Peter Dawson record.

My mother said that my grandfather sang with Peter Dawson on his visits to Southampton.
I played Paul Robeson singing this to an old people's group & we were reminded that cobblers no longer have a place in the community.
In my young days our shoes were always at the cobblers for repair.

@EbenezerIan123 Exactly so - my father could make a pair of leather shoes from start to finish! Cobblers are now called Timpsons in 866 locations!
