A stunning weekend in Dawlish, blue skies, warm sunshine and the smell of steam.
My first sighting of GWR engine 6024 'King Edward 1' this year occured on my Birthday with The Final Torbay Express of the 2009 Summer Season.
Never failing to impress, the GW engine powers past Langstone Rock with a few different whistle remodies!
The return shot was a little bit of a suprise but seemed to work perfectly. I was on the footbridge just South of Dawlish Warren station. 'The King' approaches a signal check at Langstone, which is accompanied by a quick change to clearence from the signalmen, giving the crew of the engine some delight as they open the regulator to the many tourists who appeared to see the engine.
I wonder whether this working will continue next year...?
Enjoy!
