Its from the point of view of a guy who keeps taking drugs and so 'flips' in and 'out' of reality. The style is supposed to come across as being psychoticly/weird since thats the mind state of the main character.
It was also probably the mindset of 'Burroughs' when he wrote it cause he was definitely a bit of a space cadet. Apparantly its supposed to be some kind of mirror of 'Burroughs' actual life... Dont look for deep meaning...

Waking up from Dr.Benway office and he try to contact someone but didn't in the end. I didn't get about the Interzone which seem to be the most important part but oh well. I will have to read it again sometime. Currently reading The Fountainhead.

Hey I also just finish the book and I had the same problem at first but after rereading some of it made me understand it better? I have to agree that the plot is about 20 pages long. Basically from my understanding this guy , name Lee escape to Mexico and got to this hospital with Dr. Benway and after that . Or I should say the whole middle section of the book can be see as hallucination? Introducing character with no background and event that is horrifying. After all that we come back to Lee

The naked lunch film is more of a twisted biography based around Burroughs. It has no real relation to the book. I didn't much like the film but at least it had the decency to partially make sense lol

haha yes I recommended it without watching it previously. I was about to read Naked Lunch as I've been on a beat streak with Ginsberg and on the road, but you might have dissuaded me.
