In Uk law assault is a crime causing a victim to fear violence. The term is often confused with battery, which involves physical contact. There are variations, but that's the basic description. So they comitted assault and battery from what I could see. I assume you were in fear of violence. I know I would have been. Don't ya love job's worth that don't know the law, and hope you know less.
