High-Tech Prosthetic Arm

Department of Veterans Affairs researchers are studying an advanced artificial arm that for the first time allows those with severe limb loss to pick up a key or hold a pencil. The study marks the first large-scale testing of the arm, which allows those who have lost their limb up to their shoulder joint to perform such movements as reaching over their head, a previously unobtainable maneuver for a prosthetic arm.
