Double Whammy For GFD, 2 Fully Involved Houses

GFD was toned out at 10:10 for a reported still alarm at 2508 Pennsylvania, police were on the scene reporting gasoline had been poured around a house and ignited. On arrival Batallion 4 advised of a working fire in a frame 25x40 1.5 story house. Crews from Engines 4 and 12 pulled lines and made an aggressive interior and exterior attack. The fire was bought under control within 30 minutes. WHile crews were working a second still alarm came in at 10:30. This fire was on the other side of town in the area of 25th and Hobart Steet. Truck 13 found a working house fire at 6421 west 23rd ave and advanced their line through the front door. Due to the fact they only carry 250 gallons of water the first engine in grabbed a hydrant and stretched their line. Crews made an aggressive interior attack, but the fire was too far advanced and began to blow through the roof. The fire was brought under control after about 30 minutes. Arson investigators were on scene of both fires working on cause and origin.

@drozak3207 UMMMM, this kid is a grown man and I have videos of many different fire departments. Gary just so happens to have many more fires than other departments in the area. my only issue with this video is that the firefighter needs to watch his overhead obstructions when advancing the line. youll see at about 3 seconds that the sevice power line falls off the house and almost struck him. however, you can clearly tell he did not even notice. one of the guys in my dept got hurt bad a couple months ago by that. keep your eyes open guys! and always remember to look up

@mabas21 That's ridiculous, I'm sure you heard about the huge cuts in Camden, NJ. I think FDNY put a stop on hiring for a while, and my city is trying to offer our older guys a retirement deal with no intentions of filling their place. As of now we only have 26 paid guys and about 5 active volunteers. Yet police in most areas make more starting pay than a seasoned fireman. and arent seeing nearly the amount of cuts.
