13 Stages of pure chaos (in a good way). The Double Tap match is just one of those matches that you just have to go to once in your life (no matter where you are). The theme this year was Indiana Jones, which becomes obvious as you start noticing stage titles and props.

Last year temps was quite new to everyone so they came "prepared" this time. I don't think most of us realized just how bad the weather would get. By lunchtime we were wet, cold, and miserable...we were soon saved with match food. After a good meal we came back to reality with slippery muddy ground..good luck picking up brass in these stages. Opposite of last year, as the day went by, temps continued to decrease from high-40s to low-30s...with the continued merciless gusts most of us were brain dead by our last few stages.

It didn't stop us from enjoying the match. The effort put in by the organizers to get our match moving successfully was awesome...even with the delays, we were home by about the same time as last year.

As for match lessons (as I always have lessons to learn)...I was sluggish the whole way through. As each stage went by, my memory would decrease. Transitions were very very slow...this is because I was looking at the targets rather than the front sight and I never got to look with my eyes at the target before pushing my gun to the said target (something that is pretty basic)...inexcusable for such close targets as were displayed here. Every gun jam was with a Winchester small pistol primer...they are 100% ignition in normal weather...but about 50% ignition in cold weather...should have tested that out before actually going to the big match. And yes, the mag changes were very painful. Especially when my thumb was no longer functioning :).

Gotta be positive though...so one great thing about this match...since I shot so slow, for the first time I had zero no-shoots, zero misses, and had only 3-4 Ds. Seeing that my next destination is looking to be the Northeast, looks like cold weather shooting will be the norm, looking forward to it!

  • Was that a misfire at 2:15?

  • @sirkapzalot - kind of looks like it from that angle doesn't it? No it wasn't a misfire, I think the cold made it look worse than it was.

  • Nice shooting! Good music too. Where's this song from if you don't mind?

  • @eproxy100 - Thx, the song is from the Final Fantasy VII Advent Children OST - Song: The Chase of the Highway

  • What camera did you use for first person view?

  • @alenleroc - I use the Samsung SC-X300L Sport Camcorder - it's a discontinued model, however you should find it easily refurbished on Ebay (in fact, that's where I got mine from). They hold in just about any weather...prime example was this match. :)

  • pretty close targets.......

  • Where is the point of G35 over 34 in USPSA prod?

  • Nice shooting there! Pity some of the other commenters apparently failed to notice your remark about your ammo related gun problems. Glocks are very reliable beasts. Well, mine is anyway...

  • that Glock seemed to jam a lot... I'm sure glad I have a Springfield!!! XDm Baby!!

  • Nice shooting, particularly considering the multiple malfunctions (Glock perfection?).

Given your solid technique, consider switching to the CZ platform(s).

I realize you may have a lot invested in Glock equipment, but the CZ SPO-1 and Tactical Sport would take you to another level....

  • Hell of a job!! I could just see my self trying to fumble thru something like this.

  • What!? No One Wing Angel?

  • wanna be with her when the zombie apocalypse will happen

  • Looked like fun, nice shooting!

  • @gamingoddess Looks like a misfire or jam at 2:15 and at 4:18 not to be nitpicky. Great shooting and great videos, keep them coming!
