Inaugural lecture of Professor Andy Miah, University of the West of Scotland, 23 May 2010:

The year 2010 marks the 10-year anniversary of two technological revolutions -- the genetic and the digital. It is also one of the most prominent years projected as 'the future' in 20th century science fiction.

Professor Miah's inaugural Professorial lecture will discuss his contribution to imagining the future and critiquing the present, by outlining the successes and failures of an emerging technological culture that marks the end of humanism.

  • Posthumanism is a microcosm of the absolute which has no regard for the laws of the universe. Get that human. you were born human! if you think incubating a "human" outside of a womb as ethical. You have mistaken evolution. The sense of self will diminish. art and science is part of the sacred. for you to disregard it will cause the destruction in the world itself. Though I guess you would call that the cycle of life. DNA will know when to die off. and it will effect post humanists.

  • interesting video. I am wondering if you have seen the video here on youtube entitled 'Schooling Princeton University'

It is an astonishing video on the subject of human immortality and thought you would be interested in viewing it.
