Larry Coryell performs "The Real Great Escape" taken from the Bonus Features portion of the Retrospective DVD.
A late addition to the setlist, I had decided to request it based on the 1972 recording on Wolfgang Dauner's Et Cetera, which had a great rock feel, with awesome vocals by Coryell.
Here in 2005, and with Bernard Purdie on drums, it came across bluesy and funky as hell. A crowd favorite that evening, and with Coryell known for his fusion and straight ahead jazz work, this was a great step into the versatility of Coryell.
AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE ON DVD
this is fricking incredibly good.

@jongreek Yup, Pretty Purdie and Chuck Rainey on bass. One of the best drums-bass teams in music.

that's a Hamer with a Gibson logo
or it's a combination of all the above
He's also using an ibanez wah with a cry baby logo

Not that it matters, but at 2:05 you can fairly clearly make out the Gibson logo on the headstock and the open book headstock shape. If that's a Hamer they're clearly infringing on Gibson's copyright ;-) (never mind the cutaway, the pickguard, etc, etc).

Wow--he dusted off one of his ancient tunes here. Good to hear the contempo Larry put a little distortion on the axe. Pretty Purdie on drums...most xlnt--can't recall if he was on the orig. recording, tho he played with Coryell in his 70s recording days.

The guitar is a Hamer. It's like a combination of all the above-named guitars, with a little guild (w/bigsby) thrown in.

Trivial, I know but..
I can't make out the headstock. Is his Les Paul a Gibson or Burny...?
