Very cold day but the L-1011 affectionately known as "Elle" (Elle McPherson/L-10 ...) is fired up! This plane was flown in from Roswell, New Mexico after many man hours completing the ADs to become part of the collection of the Airline History Museum at the Downtown Airport in Kansas City, MO and the realization of years of work by Larry Brown, co-founder to get her there. All three engines were started, Elle taxied out and returned back.

  • I'm not associated with the museum at all now, so also not the webmaster there. Of course the engines were removed over a year ago and replacements were supposed to have been secured several times ... but nothing to date. The crew had discovered that even getting dummy engines back on was more involved both time and money wise than had been anticipated. Now there are numerous rumors floating around about the future of the L-1011 there but nothing concrete yet.

  • Whats the current status of "Elle" as I have not seen any updates on it on AHM recently?

  • L-1011's were the sexiest aircraft to ever fly.
