I just saw Wanda in concert last night! There is a reason that the 2nd verse of the song is 'wrong'. Its that way on purpose. Wanda told the story that when they recorded the album, she didnt want to do this song. She thought it was too sexually explicit (she is a 75 years old southern christian woman, after all) But Jack White really wanted her to do it, so he sat down and changed the lyrics so that she would be more comfortable singing it. She was AMAZING live last night.

she was hot back in the day. still the same lovely soul.

@zebraattack Hell yes- SANG it!

@XforeverlongingX Pfft. I was born an angry, raging bitch baby. You don't fuck with Wanda. She's up there with Joan Jett and Quatro for me.
-
@zebraattack Someone's angry :)

@XforeverlongingX The woman is over 70 years old...what the hell do you want from her? When Johnny Cash covered "Hurt" did it sound exactly like NIN? No. Was it originally a country song? No. Did he sound as good as he did when he was young? Hell no. But that song is still good as shit. We get it. You don't think it's good. So why don't you fuck off and complain about something else on youtube.

@SeanReynolds2008 "he's been around for years and is one of the leading influences on women who've become rock singers, " And inspite of that she delivered a horrible performance which was off key off pace and she sang the lyrics incorrectly. She may do GREAT in rock, but this performance is nothing short of embarrassing

@zebraattack Jeer all you'd like.

@zebraattack We are here discussing a cover of a song, and that song is absolutely not rock. I do not require any background (the depth of which you do know) to justify my dislike of this performance. The off key off pitch sound and mistaken lyrics here are by no means intentional to try and throw a "rock" "unclean, imperfect" edge to it. The shortcomings were not intentional
-
@XforeverlongingX Have you even HEARD Wanda Jackson's music? Rock isn't always about sounding clean and perfect. If you haven't heard her stuff from the 50s you can't possibly understand this. Listen to "Fujiyama Mama" and get an education ya pedant.
