  • I agree. Brilliant. Thoughtful. The combination of the lyrics, the acoustic guitar, the bass line, Slim Dunlap's solo and Westerberg's vocal delivery...well. I don't have enough good words in my vocabulary to describe it.

  • Yep. Good catch, I was lazy and didn't look it up to make sure. Memory isn't so good any more. 1990.

  • lol, Yeah it should probably read 'ain't' nobody at the end. But he makes it work anyways.

  • "And you're still in love with nobody... and I used to be nobody".

More emotion in that one line than some bands manage in a whole album, just awesome.

  • i was given 12 random cassetes for my old truck............ this is the only one i played in it for a whole year.......threw the rest out

  • Pure genius

  • Never a more brilliant declaration of 'what might have been' whilst watching someone you love make a huge mistake x

  • The first time I heard this, both my feet kept tapping ...then the rest of me joined the tapping ... LOL

(reminds of Rod's style and songs like 'You wear it well' )

  • Great song. First time I heard it I thought "finally a hit" for the Replacements as they break-up but oh well ..

  • This is the one Replacements album I didn't listen to obsessively like SMFTTOTT, Hootenanny, LIB, Tim, PTMM. I hear this stuff and YouTube am I am floored by how good it is and it holds up. "Love nobody and I won't tell nobody, ya still in love with nobody, I used to be nobody, but not anymore." Brilliant. Time passes... been there, done that.

  • @MrBuc128

It's in A maj. So the verse is A-D-E, with a G as the change, then G-F# before the chorus. Chorus is B-D and the bridge is G-F (the rising bit is then A#-C-D. It's a little tricky to explain, just play around with those until you get it.

  • I would love to get the title track to this album. "All shook down" I love that song.
